The Views of the Great Philosophers

Metropolitan Museum of Art Miniatures

When you begin to wonder how things fit together and are related to each other or what meaning the world has for you. Then you are a philosopher seeking answers to questions. You're philosophy is the meaning that the world has to you. Everyone is a philosopher. The mind will not rest with a group of unorganized experiences, we weave them into some kind of pattern. You may say:

"This is my philosophy. This is the way things fit together.
This is the world as I understand it."

What did the Great Philosophers ponder? Here are a few questions they have approached. [This section is continually growing and is under construction.]

What is the nature of the universe?
What is man's place in the universe?
What is good and what is evil?
What is the nature of God?
Is humanity free to make choices or determined by fate?
      What of soul and immortality?
Is there life after death or is death the end of everything?
What is the best form of state for man and what is the worst?
What is education and who controls it?
Can mind be free from matter?
What are the laws of thinking and what are ideas?
