Brief History of Post Card Collection
Postcards were first used in Austria in 1869, in Great Britain in 1870, followed by America in 1872. The postcard was 3.5 X 4.5 inches but was increased to 3.5 by 5.5 inches in 1897 . Sending and collecting "picture postcards" was the "thing to do" in England and other parts of Europe. The Golden Age of postcard collection was between 1905 to WWI.
